I would love to help you

Anxiety makes us want to avoid.

But if you keep hoping things will get better if you just try harder, you'll continue avoiding the same things, feeling the same frustrations, and still be just as irritable, drained, and worried as ever.

You don't have to stay at the mercy of whatever self-doubt and criticism your brain comes up with.

Overcoming anxiety looks like facing fears, and actively coping with your thoughts and emotions. You won't feel like you're spiraling out of control anymore, because you’ll have confidence in your coping skills. You'll have the tools to motivate yourself, argue against self-doubt and criticism, and communicate your needs so that people really understand where you're coming from.

The Process of Therapy

Step 1

Email me for an appointment

I will email you back within 48 business hours with information on available times and next steps.

Step 2

ASSESSMENT

I'm going to ask you a million questions to figure out where you are, and where you want to be. Please don't worry about having the "right" answer. It's my job to figure out how to help you meet your goals.

Step 3

ONGOING SESSIONS

I'm going to ask what your main stressors are and will listen intently to interject at times when I notice the opportunity for new ways of thinking or coping. We’ll explore how your past informs your current perception, and you’ll learn ways to address beliefs that are holding you back, as you learn new skills to manage whatever comes your way in the future.

Step 4

PROGRESS ACHIEVED

When you’ve conquered all your therapy goals and the time feels right for you, you’ll be able to move forward from therapy. You’ll have the skills and confidence to handle whatever comes your way.  If life ever feels overwhelming again, my door is always open.

Virtual Therapy in Indiana

I provide mental health counseling online throughout Indiana for teens and adults. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As I listen, I gather information about subconscious beliefs that may be holding you back (lowering self-esteem, creating self-doubt, and increasing helplessness).

I’ll teach you how to challenge your limiting beliefs and change your perception so that you can gain control of your emotions and behaviors. You’ll gain techniques to calm your nervous system, activate motivation, and communicate effectively. Learn how to feel calm and confident while getting your needs met!

In-person therapy in Angola, Indiana

I provide in-person counseling for adults, teenagers, and children in my office at 1870 W 200 N Angola, Indiana. During the first session, a full assessment of behavioral, social, and emotional concerns is conducted with the family. Parents often seek therapy for their children when they notice them having a hard time with their emotions. Some kids lash out (behavioral concerns, aggression) and others turn their feelings inward (worry, self-doubt). Treatment goals are established with the family and might include: learning frustration tolerance, increasing confidence, managing worry, and self-soothing.

Therapy for kids looks different than it does with adults. At the beginning of each session, I will ask about areas of progress and new concerns. I use sand tray techniques, role-playing, modeling, art, storytelling, and play to introduce and reinforce therapy concepts with children. I also have extensive experience treating children who have experienced trauma and am trained in TF-CBT (trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). At the end of the session, I review the concepts taught so that the parent/s can reinforce them at home.
